Mr. Abdisaid Muse Ali is a distinguished leader with a wealth of experience in diplomacy, security, and international cooperation. He served as the 30th Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of The Federal Republic of Somalia from 2021 to 2022, during which he played a pivotal role in shaping Somalia’s foreign policy and strengthening its diplomatic relations globally.
As the former Chief of Staff to the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Abdisaid provided strategic leadership and oversight, contributing significantly to the country’s security policies and initiatives. His tenure as the National Security Advisor saw him spearheading the development and implementation of the Transition Plan, a critical step towards enhancing security delivery and development in Somalia. His efforts in shaping the new African Union Transition Mission to Somalia have garnered praise from national and international security stakeholders.
Prior to his roles within the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Abdisaid served as the Regional Political Adviser to the European Union Special Representative for the Horn of Africa. His focus on addressing political instability, radicalization, and violent extremism in the region underscored his commitment to promoting peace and stability.
Mr. Abdisaid’s extensive experience includes serving as the Somalia Country Representative for Nordic International Support Foundation and as a Senior Consultant on Border Management, Radicalization Process, and Maritime Security for IGAD. His advisory roles for various governmental and international organizations reflect his expertise in security, counterterrorism, and diplomatic affairs.
With a proven track record of leadership and strategic vision, Mr. Abdisaid M Ali continues to contribute significantly to regional peace, security, and development initiatives, making a lasting impact on Somalia’s trajectory and the broader Horn of Africa region.
Currently, Mr. Abdisaid serves as the Chairperson of Lomé Security and Peace Forum, a public policy, advocacy, and political think tank based in Togo.
